BritCham Vietnam is pleased to announce that we have been chosen to be the supporting partner for the development project of the Vietnam National Trade Repository (VNTR). The VNTR Project is a UK government funded project for Vietnam as part of the Global Trade Program under the Prosperity Fund. The VNTR will go live later this year and will be a free-to-access online information platform that provides all the latest trade regulations and information that businesses need to export and import to and from Viet Nam.

As part of this project, we are currently gathering insights on current practices and challenges when it comes to accessing information on trade with Viet Nam. About the VNTR Project: The UK’s Global Trade Programme (GTP) is currently supporting the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in developing a National Trade Repository (NTR) for Viet Nam, in alignment with the ASEAN Trade Repository (ATR). The VNTR will be a free-to-access online information platform that provides all the latest trade regulations and information that businesses need to export and import to and from Viet Nam.

Some of the expected benefits of having a fully functioning and sustainable National Trade Repository for Viet Nam include:

?Ensuring compliance with the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA).

?Increasing the level of business compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

?Increasing the efficiency and speed at which business is transacted and reducing costs.

?Increasing Viet Nam’s competitive advantage in the post-COVID environment.

?Assisting Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) and women-led enterprises to harness the business opportunities that stem from cross-border trade

We are hoping to evaluate responses by end of June 2021. Following this, the VNTR team will be organising a series of focus discussions in June and July, which will provide further opportunities for feeding into the design of the VNTR.
