PwC Vietnam launched a new study “Viet Nam Airport Sector: Development and Investment Opportunities”, authored by PwC Malaysia and PwC Vietnam Aviation Competency Group.
According to the Masterplan on National Airport Development in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050 approved by the Vietnamese government in June 2023, Viet Nam will expand its airport system from 22 airports to 30 airports by 2030, and to 33 airports by 2050. 97% of the country’s population will have access to airports within 100 km by 2050. Synchronous airport infrastructure planning with inclusion of air transport logistic centres and Aircraft Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Centres will pave the way for the airport sector development. In addition, the masterplan shows a strong encouragement of private investment in the sector through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality to reduce the budget burden for the State.
