UK-Vietnam Business Forum 2026: “Vision 2045 – Creating a High Income, High Value Economy”

Category: News / Date: 10/01/2026
  • Ho Chi Minh City, 1 October 2026 — The British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (BritCham Vietnam) is pleased to announce the UK-Vietnam Business Forum 2026, its annual flagship event dedicated to strengthening trade and investment relations between the United Kingdom and Vietnam. The Forum will take place on Thursday, 29 October 2026 at Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection, Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Held in partnership with the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the Forum brings together leading business figures, industry experts and senior government representatives from both nations, with the aim of showcasing best practice in bilateral cooperation.
  • Central theme: Vision 2045
  • This year’s Forum is built around the theme “Vision 2045: Creating a High Income, High Value Economy.” The theme is both timely and pressing, as Vietnam enters a decisive phase in realising its ambition to become a high-income economy by 2045 and to reach net zero emissions by 2050. As the country moves resolutely to advance institutional reform, upgrade its stock market, develop its capital markets and attract high-quality foreign direct investment (FDI), the Forum serves as an important bridge for the business community and policymakers to discuss the opportunities and challenges along this path.
  • Programme and speakers
  • The programme has been designed as a comprehensive series of in-depth discussions. It opens with a keynote address on Vietnam’s development pathway towards its 2045 goal, delivered by Ms Mariam J. Sherman, Division Director for Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR at the World Bank, offering incisive perspectives on the journey to accompany Vietnam towards high-income status and sustainable growth.
  • A second keynote, titled “Capital Markets: The Launchpad for Growth,” will be delivered by Mr Kim Byoungho, Chairman of HDBank, and Ms Wanming Du, Director of Index Policy for Asia Pacific at FTSE Russell. This is followed by Panel 1,  “The Potential of British Businesses in Helping to Realise Resolution 10,” moderated by the British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms Alexandra Smith, with participation from a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade alongside senior company leaders. Panel 2, “Developing Vietnam’s Capital Markets: Potential and Challenges,” will be moderated by Ms Francesca Stevens, Bureau Chief of Bloomberg Vietnam, with participation from UK Export Finance (UKEF) and international banks. Panel 3, “A City Built for Growth: HCMC’s Road to 2045,” will explore the key to unlocking the potential of HCMC . In the afternoon, dedicated workshops will broaden the discussion into high-potential areas of cooperation such as supply chains, education and financial services.
  • The Forum will feature an address by the British Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Iain Frew, alongside speakers and panelists from British University Vietnam (BUV), Prudential Vietnam, Unilever, HSBC, Dragon Capital, HDBank, FTSE Russell and UK Export Finance. (The full speaker line-up continues to be updated.)
  • This year’s Forum is supported by a distinguished group of sponsors, including three Platinum Sponsors: British University Vietnam (BUV), Prudential Vietnam and Unilever; Gold Sponsors: Arup, HSBC, and KPMG; Silver Sponsor: Dragon Capital; along with numerous in-kind sponsors: BM Wine, Fairmont Hanoi, Heart of Darkness Brewery, Pernod Ricard, Potique Hotel Nha Trang, Six Senses Con Dao and Be as Travel partner.
  • The contribution of the British business community
  • The British business community has long been a committed partner in Vietnam’s development, working consistently to strengthen the bilateral economic relationship. This engagement is reflected in a range of high-level activities, most notably the UK-Vietnam High-Level Conference on Financial Services, taken place during the visit of the Lady Mayor of the City of London, in support of Vietnam’s ambition to build an internationally competitive financial centre, as well as working meetings chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang, ongoing dialogue with the Ministry of Finance on capital markets and on tax and customs reform; and the annual Loseby Lecture.
  • These activities are part of BritCham’s long-standing policy advocacy on behalf of its members, which fosters open dialogue while also delivering tangible outcomes for business. A recent example is the entry into force of the Apostille Convention in Vietnam, which simplifies document legalisation and eases trade and investment. Together, these efforts reflect the long-term commitment of the British business community to a fairer, more transparent and more predictable business environment in Vietnam.
  • Beyond the policy discussions, the Forum also opens up concrete business opportunities through the UK-Vietnam Trade Mission, featuring tailored B2B meetings designed around each company’s objectives. Together with the UK-Vietnam Business Expo and the networking sessions, it offers a comprehensive platform for businesses to build strategic partnerships and strengthen lasting commercial ties with the Vietnamese market.
