General Practices (GP) are an integral part of the primary care system where all the initial healthcare need is managed, treated and monitored. Then the GP will filter and refer patients to the next level of care and/or the specialist care as appropriate. General practitioners (GP doctors) play an essential role in managing the population’s healthcare need in the community throughout their life span. The GP doctors also manage, follow up and care for the patients together with the specialist care before, during and after the hospitalisation in full circle.
In the United Kingdom, the primary care system is centred around the General Practice clinics, ones which are located in community, and serve as a “gatekeeper” of the healthcare system. GP clinics have an established history of development within the British healthcare system. Understanding the model and the roles of General Practice in the British primary care system will provide Vietnam with the knowledge and experience in building, developing and managing the general practices within the national primary care system.
“The British GP Model” scientific workshop is organised by the British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam, and co-organised by Modality Partnership and the Hong Anh Medical Campus at Sofitel Saigon Plaza Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City from 08:00-12:00, on April 26, 2024. The scientific workshop aims to share the knowledge and experience about the British GP model with those working in the healthcare leadership, care management, healthcare facility operation, research, and training, particularly in primary care. The workshop will also serve as a platform to exchange, partner, and share knowledge, experience, and vision between the Vietnamese and British healthcare leaders and experts.

Purpose of the Masterclass:
Companies are always thinking about the future. They have missions, visions and core values. They set goals every year and meticulously measure them against what they actually achieved. There is a sense of pride being part of something and creating a future with a company that is forward thinking. BUT, when do we think of ourselves in the same way? How many of us have a personal mission, vision or have discovered our core values? As the old saying goes, if you don’t know where you’re going, how will you ever get there?
Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, Lilly Singh and Steve Harvey are all fans of Vision Boards. They all swear that their vision boards helped them stay focused and passionate about what they wanted to achieve. Come to learn the scientific basis for designing and generating your own vision board.
A fantastic session to help people develop both their career and personal goals with the momentum to take charge of their own learning and OWN their future.
Learning Outcomes:
Do you ever find yourself wondering how to differentiate yourself as a leader? Or juggling a lot, and concerned about your future direction? Or hoping to explore more opportunities but are not sure how to get started?
This thought-provoking session will put you back in touch with the inner you and help you craft a strategy for creating and building your own personal brand so that you are clear about what you represent and know how to showcase yourself authentically. This will enable faster decision-making as you will realise what is most important to you and focus on this. It involves coming up with your own personal values and looking at how you communicate them to the world, as well as thinking about the goals that represent those values to you. Finally, you leave with ways to continue to enhance your personal brand, leading to greater visibility and greater confidence to achieve your ambitions.

Join us for our H2 2023 Global & Vietnam Outlook, where we will discuss the economic trends and strategies for navigating the current landscape.
While the US and Euro economies show signs of slowing down, they have so far avoided recession. However, they face stubborn inflation, which policy makers must balance in the context of a slowing economy. On the other hand, the recovery in China has lost momentum, but Asia – particularly the ASEAN region and India – is witnessing good momentum and should generate healthy growth rates.
Additionally, inflation in Asia appears to be moderating, presenting attractive opportunities for corporates and investors.

Set in the Asia Pacific, the Tourism Metamorphosis theme of the 3rd Critical Tourism Studies Asia Pacific conference engages with the broad notions of metamorphosis – as a heuristic and conceptual touchstone. Empirical and theoretical insights that engage with the metamorphosis of tourism geographies will contribute to new ways of thinking, feeling and doing tourism research and practice.
Dialogues at the 3rd Critical Tourism Studies Asia Pacific conference will be bold, pushing the boundaries of tourism research into novel and challenging frontiers of scholarship. Contributions will transition from narratives of ‘troubled times’ and simplistic entreaties such as ‘building back better’, towards substantive queries into how creative destruction is afoot.
We welcome your attendance and look forward to seeing you there.

Vietnam is rapidly developing and currently ranks first among emerging logistics market. The country’s logistics industry has been boosted by the country’s booming GDP, rising manufacturing, and e-commerce sectors. Indeed, logistics has been among the fastest-expanding sectors in the country, accounting for around 2.5% of the total GDP. By 2025, the growth rate of this sector was forecast to outpace the growth of Vietnam’s GDP.
In addition, the rapid adoption of e-commerce by the country’s young demographic has increased the demand for expansion in logistic services. Vietnam aims to develop itself as an export-driven economy. By establishing economic zones and industrial parks, the government is proactively taking steps to foster manufacturing investments, which is another reason why Vietnam’s logistics industry has strong potential.

Vietnam has undergone a substantial change in its economic structure in the last decade, shifting from agriculture to the industry and services sector. Since 2006, the service sector has had the highest share in the GDP distribution, followed by industry and construction, and agriculture.
The supporting industries focus on the supply of raw materials, spare parts, and components to manufacturing industries, thus becoming a substantial determinant of the industrialization process of Vietnam. With the potential of becoming “the next Asian manufacturing hub”, driven by an abundant labour force and low labour cost, the FDI capital inflow into Vietnam in 2021 reached US$31.15 billion, with 58.2% going towards the manufacturing and processing sector.
However, to maintain the FDI interest in middle and long-term local investments, it is crucial to develop a sustainable supporting industry system by increasing the localization rate and maintaining a stable supply of raw materials, components, and spare parts for the industrial sectors. High dependence on imports for the supporting industries, will lead to higher risks and increase the costs for enterprises.
Join us on another episode of our Sector-focused Webinar Series: Vietnam Supporting Industry to have an overview of the supporting industry in Vietnam and what to expect from changes in regulations and tax incentives for companies within the industry itself.

Viet Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) is developing the Viet Nam National Trade Repository (VNTR) with support from the UK Government that will be linked to the ASEAN Trade Repository (ATR) (https://atr.asean.org) and be congruent with requirements under the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA). In this regard, the VNTR covers the 9 mandatory topics required by ATIGA Article 13 and has a specific focus on non-tariff measures (NTMs) based on ASEAN Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
This will be a free-to-access online information platform that provides all the latest trade regulations and information that businesses need to export and import to and from Viet Nam. BritCham Vietnam is delighted to organise a webinar titled “Education in the new normal” to provide insights from our experts in the education sector on their experience during the pandemic in Vietnam, how to further engage the students with the use of technology, along with educational opportunities and challenges for students in the new normal era.
Since the beginning of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has severely disrupted schools across the globe. According to UNICEF, around the world schools are closed for 77 million students. Vietnam, having had a very quick response to contain the pandemic as well as having the 3rd fastest vaccination roll out program is struggling to open up its schools again and bring students back to face to face learning. Students are now subjected to inconsistent Covid-19 regulations as each province sets its own rules. This is also in the knowledge that potentially lessons could be switched back to learning online if another outbreak occurs.
This causes educational institutions huge challenges on how they can assure education continuity throughout theses periods of uncertainty sand added regulations, with students potentially switching from online learning to hybrid, to offline learning once their area is Covid free..

As the end of the financial year is approaching, many corporations may encounter difficulties in the process of showing the authorities transparency in tax reporting documents and compliance with all tax regulations. Many questions and uncertainties are raised around the procedures of tax finalising and how to minimize costs and risks.
With escalating documentation requirements, sizeable penalties, an aggressive approach to enforcement by the Vietnamese tax authorities and a focus on corporations paying their fair share of tax, never before have companies operating in Vietnam faced so much scrutiny and challenge of their transfer pricing policies. The need to ensure full compliance with reporting obligations and put in place a transfer pricing strategy that is fit for purpose is more important than ever before.
In this light, BritCham Vietnam presents the third episode of our Vietnam Sector-Focused Webinar Series on TAX FINALSATION with Ms Nguyen Thu Phuong – Director, Tax Services at Grant Thorton and Mr Do Vu Bao Khanh – Senior Manager at Grant Thornton. Join our panelists to gain insights on the most up-to-date information and compliance regulations on tax finalisation as well as transfer pricing.

Disruption and innovation go hand-in-hand, especially with the pandemic. COVID-19 has accelerated the digital transition and favoured some forms of innovation. There has been mounting evidence and examples of SMEs integrating new digital practices and tools in their operations.
Migrating to the cloud is no longer a question of “should we move?”; it’s “how fast can we move?” and “what are we moving first?” In this webinar, found out how SMEs can accelerate innovation by migrating on-premise data centers to AWS Cloud.

OECD, in collaboration with business associations in Viet Nam AmCham, AusCham, BritCham and EuroCham, is holding a series of webinars on building resilient supply chain in the context of Viet Nam.
The first webinar “Integrating Responsible Business Conduct to Create a Resilient Garment Industry” will include a brief presentation of the OECD’s Garment & Footwear Due Diligence Guidance (which will be launched in Vietnamese during the webinar), how it can help Vietnamese businesses become more resilient and future proof their place in the global supply chain.
COVID-19 has amplified the voices from many stakeholders on the importance of rethinking global supply chains. Adopting Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) standards can help businesses become more resilient when exposed to Global Value Chains (GVC) disruptions. Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) means integrating and considering environmental and social issues within core business activities, including throughout your supply chain. A key element of RBC is risk-based due diligence – a process through which businesses identify, prevent, and mitigate their actual and potential adverse impacts on people and planet – and account for how those impacts are addressed.
The webinar is bringing together key speakers in the garment industry including policy makers, business associations, global and domestic companies, and trade union representatives. A Business Consultation session will be available where the companies and manufacturers can share experiences and ask questions directly to the OECD and other speakers.

Language: Vietnamese-English simultaneous interpretation will be available.
Agenda:
2:00 – 3:00 PM | Panel Discussion |
3:00 – 3:30 PM | Business Consultation |
Speakers:
– Ms. Thuy Nguyen, Vietnam Industry Agency, Ministry of Industry & Trade
– Mr. Nguyen Thai Duong, Vice President, Viet Nam Textile Union
– Ms. Dorothy Lovell, Lead, Due Diligence for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment & Footwear Sector, OECD Centre for RBC, Directorate for Financial & Enterprise Affairs
– Mr. Truong Van Cam, Vice Chairman, Vietnam Textile & Apparel Association (VITAS)
– Mr. Alexander Falter, General Director, ECCO Vietnam
– Mr. Paul Norriss, CEO, UnAvailable
Background:
Viet Nam has emerged as one of the leading textiles exporting countries worldwide in recent years, becoming the fourth apparel exporting country in 2019 (by value – 30.6 billion USD). The Vietnamese garment and footwear industry accounts for 16% of the country total exports, employs 2.5 million workers. The growth of the garment and footwear sector was also boosted by Viet Nam’s increased integration into Global Value Chains (GVCs), through the coming into force of a number of trade agreements, including, the Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) (2019), the EU – Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) (2020), or the UK –Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) (2021).
However, the COVID-19 crisis has exerted a substantial toll on economies and societies. Worldwide, general and targeted lockdown measures were implemented to contain the outbreak, which paused sections of the global economy, resulting in global trade declining by over 15% in the first half of 2020. These disrupted GVCs, leading to business closures, insolvencies and increased unemployment rates, and this perhaps nowhere more so than in the garment & footwear sector.
In Viet Nam in particular, the initial impact of GVC disruptions has been twofold. First, Viet Nam’s economy experienced falling international demand for manufactured goods, which placed manufacturers in difficulty for meeting their wage bill as orders were cancelled or not placed. Second, the disruption of GVCs interrupted Viet Nam’s material imports, so there would be difficulty fulfilling even those orders that were placed.
As Viet Nam’s garment and footwear sector recovers from the Covid-19 impact, adopting and integrating RBC standards throughout the sector is the key to unlocking future opportunities outside of the context of the pressing and immediate risks posed by the pandemic.
About The Responsible Supply Chains in Asia (RSCA) Programme
The workshop is part of the Responsible Supply Chains in Asia Programme (RSCA), a partnership between the European Union (EU), the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), funded by the European Union. The RSCA works with partners in Asia to promote responsible business conduct in global supply chains.
The overarching objectives of the RSCA Programme are to promote smart, sustainable and inclusive growth by ensuring that investors and businesses have a better understanding of corporate social responsibility; and to create policy environments conducive to promoting responsible business conduct and increased opportunities for dialogue. The programme is taking place in partnership with six Asian economies, namely Japan, China, Thailand, Viet Nam, Philippines, and Myanmar.

With the world’s economy recovering from the COVID-19 crisis, managing risks and adjusting strategies for post-pandemic development have become amongst the top priorities for many businesses. However, organisations, especially small and medium enterprises, are now facing difficulties in forecasting future trends due to uncertainties caused by the pandemic. In the first half of 2021, Vietnam saw more than 70,000 businesses withdrawing from the market, an increase of nearly 25% year-on-year, and most of which were of small scale or established under 5 years.
According to World Bank’s experts, firms that survived the COVID-19 crisis are older and more productive; they also tend to be innovators, use digital technology, and operate in less burdensome business environments. So what does it take for a business to not only survive, but also innovate and thrive in a changing future?

Standard Chartered Bank – BritCham Sustainability Webinar Series:
Webinar No.1 – ACHIEVING NET ZERO, CARBON MARKETS AND THEIR ROLE IN REDUCING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS, PERSPECTIVES FROM VIETNAM AND THE ASIA REGION
Organisations have increasingly joined the sustainability movement in large numbers as an initiative towards sustainable development and healthy living. Conversations around carbon neutrality – with a focus on becoming ‘net-zero’ – have been circulating in recent years, promising businesses a solution to combat climate issues.
The concept of carbon neutrality was first strengthened by the Paris Agreement in 2015, whose main goal was to limit global warming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By adopting the initiative, corporates help forge a greener future through investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, or sustainability projects that balance out carbon emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Six years into the Agreement, and the efforts were proven fruitful as more than 115 countries have submitted a new or updated NDC (Nationally determined contributions) and 6,000 major corporates have pledged to reduce gas emissions. In 2019, Britain became the first G7 country to pass net-zero emission laws, urging leaders worldwide to follow suit. As technological progress further advances and the cost of renewable energy has declined over the years, going green is no longer seen as a trade-off for economic growth, especially in Asian booming economies. In its latest discussion with COP26 President Alok Sharma, Vietnam has affirmed its goal to reach net-zero emissions in the near future, with a heavy emphasis on sustainable consumption and the green transition process in all economic sectors.
‘Achieving Net Zero, Carbon Markets and Their Role in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Perspectives from Vietnam and the Asia Region’ is the first webinar in a series of events co-organised by Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (BritCham) to promote sustainable development in Vietnam and the application of ESG among businesses. This will support participating businesses and organisations devise effective strategies for their sustainable development. These events will involve key relevant stakeholders from the government, regulators and industry thought leaders.

Mental Health Counsellor and Psychologist
I’m a British Mental Health Counsellor and Psychologist who has lived and worked in South East Asia since 2005. I see clients for many different reasons, such as depression and anxiety, suicidal feelings, trauma, finding meaning and purpose in life, cultural adjustment, and simply ‘needing someone to talk to’. I’m very happy to see clients from any cultural background, as long as they can speak English. My approach is existential and client-centred. My goal is not to direct or advise my clients, but rather to collaborate with them to help them to discover the possibilities personally available to them, and support them to find a more contented way to be themselves through making their own choices and changes. To do this, I try to understand how my clients see themselves and the world around them in order to help them to better grasp their problems, gain new perspectives and self-empowerment, and find their own solutions or ways of moving forward.

? BRITCHAM FUN RUN – RUN FOR VIETNAM 2020! ?
Since 2000, we have raised more than VND 11 billion to benefit charities throughout Vietnam. We welcome 10,000 participants annually and this year will be one to remember!
Our Fun Run this year will be held both in Ho Chi Minh City (15th November) and in Hanoi (29th November). We are excited to welcome representatives from the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and several Vietnamese celebrities that you might recognise.
The generous support of over 30 partners and sponsors has allowed us to secure 2 billion VND, and with your participation, we are hoping to raise even more money to support the most vulnerable in Vietnam – many of whom have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. 100% of your donations will be distributed between 4 areas: Healthcare, People with disabilities, Education and Wildlife protection.
Our fantastic event allows you to have fun, get fit and most importantly, to help disadvantaged groups in our community. Your involvement means more to us than ever this year.
