  • | UK–VIETNAM BUSINESS FORUM 2026
  • Today, BritCham held a media gathering for the UK–Vietnam Business Forum 2026. Held on 29 October under the theme “Vision 2045: Creating a High Income, High Value Economy”, the Forum brings together business leaders, experts and senior government representatives from both nations to discuss Vietnam’s path to becoming a high-income economy by 2045.

  • The Vietnam Education Forum 2026 returns to Hanoi, bringing together leaders from education, government and business to discuss “Quality & the Future of Education”.

———————ADVOCACY HIGHLIGHTS———————

  • BCAC Meeting with the Executive Board of Vietnam International Financial Centre 
  • BCAC held a meeting with the executive leadership of VIFC-HCM on 25 September. BCAC members delivered direct, practical policy feedback drawn from international markets experience, focusing on the implementation roadmap for VIFCs, operating and licensing models for international financial institutions and cross-border capital connectivity. BritCham reaffirmed its commitment to connecting VIFC with top-tier UK-based experts to share global best practices and provide technical advice, including legal framework development. [Read more].
  • Meeting with Ministry of Finance on Tax and Customs Issues
  • On 17 September, BritCham attended the Meeting hosted by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to resolve pending tax and customs issues captured in the summary report of the Deputy PM’s meeting. Representatives from BritCham Members were able to explain to various relevant MOF Deparments the on-going tax issues and impacts to businesses.  [Read more]
  • Bilateral Meeting with General Department of Taxation to Resolve Tax Issues
  • On 30 September 2026, the General Department of Taxation (GDT) under MOF organised a meeting with BritCham and Prudential to resolve issues previously raised at the Deputy Prime Minister’s meeting regarding tax policies for insurance agents and life insurance companies. The Meeting allowed for an in-depth discussion on the different interpretation of tax policies with various divisions under GDT, including Legal Division and Large Corporation Management Division. GDT will continue to seek further guidance from the Tax Policy Bureau of MOF in order to resolve the bottlenecks.
  • Consultation on Draft Regulations Implementing the Amended Customs Law
  • The Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance is consulting business associations on draft regulations implementing the amended Customs Law (Law No. 11/2026/QH16). BritCham is consolidating member feedback for submission to the Customs Department.
  • Input on Relaxing Market Access Conditions for Foreign Investors
  • FIA/MOF has invited Chambers to propose sectors where easing is needed, as part of a draft Law amending the Law on Investment. BritCham is gathering input from members to contribute to this process.

———————LEGAL UPDATES———————

Recently issued regulations streamline investor selection procedures, clarifying bidding requirements and evaluation criteria, particularly for projects involving land. Vietnam’s Draft Law on Data Security proposes broader data governance, including requirements for data classification, security, cross-border transfers and localisation of certain data. Three practical guides were published, covering data centre investment, employment law, and planning and real estate providing investors with practical guidance on key areas of Vietnam’s regulatory landscape.
