From July 1st, foreign nationals residing in Vietnam can now register for a Level-2 Electronic Identification (eID) account via the VNeID mobile app allowing easier access to digital public services, streamlined administrative procedures and enhanced residency management under a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Public Security.

Quick hotel/accommodation check-ins (digital ID accepted)

How to Register for a Level-2 eID:
1. Visit the Immigration Department office in your area
2. Bring your original passport and residence documents
3. Fill out Form TK01 (paper form available at the office)
4. Have your photo and fingerprints taken on-site
5. Authorities verify your data and send it to the national eID system
6. Once processed, your digital ID will be linked to the VNeID app

You can then log into the app to view and manage your eID profile.

– Up to 3 working days if your biometric data is already stored in the national database.
– Up to 7 working days if biometric data needs to be newly recorded.
