    IMPACT BEYOND BOUNDARIES: ANNUAL CROSS-SECTOR CONFERENCE 2021

    “Impact Beyond Boundaries” marks the fifth Annual Cross-Sector Conference organized by LIN Center for Community Development to nurture cross-sector

    partnerships in Vietnam between organizations in the nonprofit sector, private and public sectors to collaborate and contribute to sustainable development in Vietnam. The Conference’s theme “Impact Beyond Boundaries” will focus on three key stages of the journey of a trust-based partnership:

    3. Impact & Learning

    “Impact Beyond Boundaries” marks the fifth Annual Cross-Sector Conference organized by LIN Center for Community Development to nurture cross-sector

    partnerships in Vietnam between organizations in the nonprofit sector, private and public sectors to collaborate and contribute to sustainable development in Vietnam. The Conference’s theme “Impact Beyond Boundaries” will focus on three key stages of the journey of a trust-based partnership:

    This year, the conference will take place online over two half-day morning sessions:

    ● Day 1: 9:00 to 12:00, Thursday, 26th August 2021

    ● Day 2: 9:00 to 12:00, Friday, 27th August 2021

    Target Audience: We expect 150 – 200 representatives from nonprofits, corporations, philanthropists, local media and the government to join our virtual sessions. Registered virtual conference participants will have access to:

    ● Recorded keynote speeches addressing each aspect of trust-based partnership from vision to impact;

    ● Virtual skills workshops with interactive breakout rooms;

    ● Livestream nonprofit and corporate expert panel discussions; and

    ● Impact Networking Session (online) on the final day of the conference.

    DAY 1 – 26 August 2021

    Partnership starts with inspiring leaders and purpose

    From the beginning of the journey to sustainable partnership and impact, it is essential that parties agree and commit to a common vision. In the first section of the conference, we will hear from inspiring leaders in nonprofit and corporate sectors. By providing a shared purpose, direction, and inspiration, these visionary leaders will share how they supported their teams to move beyond self-interest, set a constructive tone and mindset for partnership, and lay out clear goals ahead of cooperation.

    Skills trainings to build trust-based partnerships

    Once a vision is in place, partners can start working on community engagement and take steps towards transformational results. In this section of the conference, we will hear a keynote from a seasoned diplomat and partnership broker, and invite participants to participate in one of three workshops on different aspects of project engagement. These workshops will be offered in parallel to support skills building towards successful engagement in cross-sector partnership.

    10:40 – 12:00 Engagement skills workshops running in parallel

    {Participants will choose one of three options}

    Option 1: The Art of Collaboration – Managing expectations, roles and responsibilities [EN]

    Ahead of any engagement, how can partners articulate and manage expectations, negotiate roles and responsibilities, and facilitate changing motivations among stakeholders? In this workshop, two experienced communications and partnership practitioners will explain key steps in organizing collaborative teams. Specifically, workshop leaders will discuss how to identify common interests, define stakeholder contributions to the project, balance and align personality dynamics on a team, and draft an inclusive action plan.

    Option 2: Utilizing networks as a positive force for change [VN]

    The journey of trust-based partnership depends on utilizing networks of friends, donors, partners who unite under the same purpose. In this workshop, our workshop facilitators will share how they map their social networks and identify new and engaging activities to strategically mobilize their contacts to support their projects year after year.

    Option 3: Creative communications and public advocacy [VN]

    To address social inequality and misinformation, the strength of partnership may rely on working together behind a united message for a change in public knowledge, behavior or practice. In this workshop, we will explore some case studies of changemakers skilled in creative communication, understanding target audiences, and working with mass media and other communication tools for environmental and social impact.

    DAY 2 – 27 August 2021

    IMPACT & LEARNING: 9:00 – 12:00

    In 2021, vulnerable communities faced extreme challenges due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and severe climate events (storms and drought). In the final section of the conference, we will hear from a keynote speaker and panel of experts who will share stories of partnership forged in crises. They will reflect on their work in the last year and how partners were able to contribute solutions, develop, and learn together to address crises in the short-term and look ahead to building partnerships for long-term resilience and disaster mitigation.

    At this year’s networking event after the inspiring keynotes, panel discussions and workshops have finished, we invite participants to a festive networking event to look for potential cross-sector partners. We will organize a fun ice-breaker, and similar to last year, will make use of a matchmaking app to help parties interested in various causes connect.
