Việt Nam joins the Hague Apostille Convention – BritCham advocacy win
Việt Nam has officially acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention, a landmark reform that will replace consular legalisation with a single Apostille certification, reducing time and costs while supporting trade, investment, and talent mobility. BritCham is proud that this reflects our long-standing advocacy through the Prime Minister’s Administrative Reform Advisory Council (ACAPR), demonstrating the impact of constructive public–private dialogue, and we remain committed to advancing further reforms that strengthen Việt Nam’s business environment.
BritCham submits Letter on Decree 46 on Food Safety
BritCham has submitted a formal letter to relevant authorities expressing concerns and recommendations regarding Decree 46 on food safety, following member feedback and industry engagement led by Unilever. While the Government has temporarily paused the Decree until 15 April, BritCham emphasised the need for timely revisions to ensure effective State management and consumer protection without creating undue disruption to businesses.
The letter consolidates input from affected members and aligns with broader industry advocacy efforts. BritCham will continue to engage with stakeholders to support balanced and practical regulatory outcomes before the Decree is reinstated.

Vietnam Economic News Insight & Recap – January 2026
Vietnam entered 2026 with resilient macroeconomic momentum, underpinned by expansionary manufacturing activity, record January FDI disbursement and a sharp rise in trade turnover. While import growth temporarily outpaced exports, this reflected firms rebuilding input inventories in anticipation of stronger production cycles. Inflation remained contained despite Tet-related consumption pressures, and international visitor arrivals reached a historic high. Against this broadly positive backdrop, attention now turns to the scale of structural upgrading required to meet the Government’s ambitious 10% growth target, with public investment, financial market deepening and technological advancement emerging as central pillars of the year ahead.
