VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: Head of Public Policy & Hanoi Office

    BritCham Vietnam is seeking a strategic and high-calibre professional to join as the Head of Public Policy & Hanoi Office. 

    This senior-level appointment, based in Hanoi, will have responsibility for all activity in the capital. The successful candidate will lead our public policy, advocacy, and government engagement efforts, while providing strategic oversight for Trade Services and Working Groups. 

    I. Role Purpose 

    This role leads BritCham Vietnam’s public policy, advocacy, and government engagement in Hanoi, while supporting the British Corporate Advocacy Council (BCAC). The position also oversees Trade Services and Working Groups, ensuring alignment between advocacy priorities, member engagement, and commercial activities. 

    The role plays a critical part in shaping BritCham’s policy voice, strengthening high-level stakeholder relationships, and delivering impactful programmes that support members’ interests in Vietnam. 

    II. Key Responsibilities 

    1. Public Policy & Advocacy 
    • Lead research and analysis on UK–Vietnam policy and regulatory issues to support the Executive Director, Board, and BCAC members.  
    • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of BritCham’s advocacy agenda.  
    • Act as a key focal point between BritCham and external stakeholders, including government bodies and Vietnamese business associations.  
    • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including Vietnamese ministries, government agencies, the National Assembly, and the British Embassy.  
    • Plan and deliver BCAC activities, including monthly meetings, roundtables, and high-level dialogues.  
    • Draft and coordinate position papers, policy submissions, and other advocacy materials.  
    • Prepare agendas, briefings, and action notes, and ensure timely follow-up on agreed actions.  
    • Manage BCAC annual planning, budgeting, and reporting.  
    • Lead BritCham’s engagement with the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF).  
    • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned/requested by the Executive Director. 
    1. Trade Services (Oversight)
    • Oversee the development and delivery of BritCham’s Trade Services, including business matching, trade missions, and market entry support.  
    • Support commercial partnerships and client engagement related to trade activities.  
    • Guide the team in delivering high-quality, client-oriented services to UK and Vietnamese businesses.  
    • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned/requested by the Executive Director. 
    1. Working Groups (Oversight)
    • Oversee the establishment, coordination, and performance of BritCham Working Groups.  
    • Ensure Working Groups are aligned with BCAC advocacy priorities and member interests.  
    • Support Working Group leads in developing policy positions and engagement strategies.  
    • Consolidate inputs from Working Groups into broader advocacy and policy messaging.  
    • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned/requested by the Executive Director. 
    1. Head of Hanoi Office
    • Act as the senior representative of BritCham in Hanoi.  
    • Provide oversight and coordination of Hanoi-based operations and team activities.  
    • Lead key events and initiatives in Hanoi, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.  
    • Identify and engage emerging Vietnamese stakeholders and leaders.  
    • Provide strategic briefings and content for communications and external engagement.  
    • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned/requested by the Executive Director. 

    III. Key Requirements 

    • Strong experience in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory advocacy.  
    • Deep understanding of Vietnam’s political and regulatory landscape.  
    • Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders, including government and corporate leaders.  
    • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.  
    • Experience managing programmes, events, and multi-stakeholder initiatives.  
    • Ability to work independently with a high level of ownership, professionalism, and flexibility.
