On 28 April, BritCham Trade Working Group submitted official comments to the Ministry of Industry and Trade regarding the Draft Strategic Trade Control Decree.

In its submission, BritCham welcomed the Government’s proactive efforts to strengthen Vietnam’s strategic trade control system in line with international standards and national security goals. The comments highlighted the importance of clear definitions, streamlined licensing procedures, digital tools, and strong protection of confidential business information to support compliance and reduce administrative burdens.

BritCham also emphasised the need for consistency with Vietnam’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and WTO obligations, and recommended a grace period for implementation to allow businesses to adapt.
